Play Safely
Safety Rules & Guidelines
Simple habits that keep the laughter going for years.
General Play Rules
Every Quantlets playset is designed to exceed ASTM F1148 residential standards. These rules help keep your set — and your kids — in great shape.
- Adult supervision is recommended for children under age 5.
- Maximum of one child per swing at a time.
- No standing or jumping from swings.
- Climb equipment only using handholds and designated footholds.
- Remove bike helmets, loose jewelry, and drawstrings before play.
Age Recommendations
- Ages 2–5: Lower platforms, small slides, toddler swings with adult supervision.
- Ages 5–10: Full access to climbing walls, rope bridges, and standard swings.
- Ages 10+: All features. We still recommend an adult nearby for group play.
Surfacing & Placement
A proper impact-absorbing surface is essential. We recommend:
- At least 9 inches of engineered wood fiber or rubber mulch beneath and 6 feet around the structure.
- Level ground, with at least 6 feet of clearance from fences, walls, and trees.
- No hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt) within the use zone.
Maintenance Schedule
- Monthly: Visual inspection for loose hardware, splinters, or damage.
- Seasonally: Tighten bolts, clear debris from slides and platforms.
- Annually: We offer complimentary first-year check-ups, and affordable yearly maintenance thereafter.
- Every 3–5 years: Refinishing with natural cedar oil to preserve the wood.
Weather Guidance
Our cedar playsets are built for PNW weather, but please note:
- Surfaces can be slippery when wet — allow time to dry after rain.
- Avoid use during lightning storms or high winds.
- Snow and ice should be cleared before play in winter.
